ENDLESS FEAR is een serie beschermheiligen waaraan Christina de Vos ruim tien jaar heeft gewerkt. Het zijn variaties op traditionele katholieke heiligen die volgens het Vaticaan voor het overgrote deel omnino fabulosa zijn: totaal verzonnen, ze hebben nooit bestaan. Christina de Vos herverzon deze ook letterlijk fantastische heiligen. Haar directe inspiratie vond zij in het Duitse pelgrimsoord Vierzehnheiligen, waar de Noodhelpers worden aanbeden. Dit is een groep van inderdaad veertien heiligen die erg populair was tijdens de pestepidemieën van de veertiende eeuw. Naast bescherming tegen besmettelijke ziekten bieden zij afzonderlijk hulp bij zowat iedere denkbare noodsituatie, van zwangerschap (Sint-Margaretha) tot sterfbed (Sint-Cyriacus).

De Noodhelpers kregen gezelschap van steeds meer andere heiligen, tot het er veel te veel waren. Naar goede gewoonte heeft Christina de Vos daarna de boel flink uitgedund, zodat uiteindelijk een afgeronde, tot de essentie teruggebrachte serie is ontstaan. De tientallen boeken die haar ter inspiratie dienden, werden verknipt tot materiaal voor collages

ENDLESS FEAR is a series of patron saints Christina de Vos worked on for over ten years. They are variations on traditional Catholic saints, the vast majority of which, according to the Vatican, are omnino fabulosa: completely invented; they never existed. Christina de Vos also reimagined these literally fantastic saints. She found her direct inspiration in the German pilgrimage site Vierzehnheiligen, where the Fourteen Holy Helpers are venerated. This group of fourteen saints was indeed very popular during the plague epidemics of the fourteenth century. Besides protection against infectious diseases, they individually offered help in almost every conceivable emergency, from pregnancy (St. Margaret) to death (St. Cyriacus).

The Fourteen Holy Helpers were joined by more and more other saints, until there were far too many. As is her custom, Christina de Vos then significantly reduced the collection, ultimately creating a complete series, reduced to its essence. The dozens of books that served as her inspiration were cut up into material for collages.
