Colors make us do vibrant deeds! more than does justice to the colourful paintings by artist Heidi Howard. Thanks to the choice of paper, in spite of coming in at more than 400 pages this monograph sits comfortably in the hand, and is less heavy than you’d think. The paper chosen is not only thin and light, however: it is also extremely translucent, significantly increasing the challenge posed in terms of picture editing. A challenge which, given the highly expressive, multicoloured paintings and the large diversity of types of image, was by definition already considerable. By using fields, which page by page create a succession of colour changes, as well as handwritten explanatory notes on the photos and paintings, the designer creates a cohesion which nevertheless leaves all the scope required by the dynamism of the works and their story. Every spread presents a painstakingly ordered chaos. The least outstanding  aspect of the book is the text sections, where the choice of a modern, sans serif font disrupts an otherwise perfect assemblage of all the ingredients. This critical caveat however does little to diminish a design that in all other regards is deserving of the highest praise.
