 Painting in and out of focus evolved from a wish to present the works of four significant artists who, independent of each other and from different European capitals have worked intensively with one of the paintings' outer spheres over several years. -- Their characteristic common traits bear reference to non-figurative paintings on which large, monochrome fields of colour or colour sequences extend over the entire surface. One speaks of works consisting of a noteworthy open structure in which the colour, its intensity as well as its spatial qualities become an integral part of the paintings' expression - an expression which primarily addresses the senses.
