CAC INTERVIU the quarterly conversation about art is a bilingual (Lithuanian & English) interview based publication also containing editorials, book reviews, and an artists project focused on covering the Baltic region with a view to topical events that impact on art produced internationally. Distributed via direct mail and available for free at partner institutions in major cities all over the world CAC Interviu is a leading source of information about art, cultural events, and cultural debate from post-soviet Europe (with a unique Lithuanian perspective). In concert with the acclaimed alternative broadcast project CAC TV recently screened at unitednationsplaza and appearing in The Best Surprise is No Surprise the journal aims to position the CAC at the forefront of institutional production, and keep art and writing produced in Lithuania in the international spotlight.

CAC is pleased to announce the release of issue # 6, in which we hone-in locally and engender debate about Lithuanian specific dilemmas that resonate for the broader eastern European region:
Andreas Gedin talks to Daniel Birnbaum about the opening of the new Portikus in Frankfurt. Firebrand Lithuanian artist Mindaugas Navakas aims trenchant critique at the state of pedagogy at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (sounding a clarion for the situation of art-teaching in the post-soviet). Lars Bang Larsen talks to Lithuanian artist Arturas Raila about his recent solo project at Frankfurter Kunstverein. Giedrius Gulbinas and Gabor Rieder review international conferences recently held in Lithuania addressing the state of Eastern European art history. Two local artists talk with each other about performative provocations that were shut-down by the authorities, while Virginija Januskeviciute tracks a third public art provocation that got away scot-free. A discussion reviewing senior critic and art historian Alfonsas Andriuskevicius new book reveals concerns within Lithuanian professional art circles.
