Jorge Pardo

Softback, 48 pp., illustrated in colour, 250mm x 170mm, wraps in plastic sleeve, Includes an artist’s biography. English and German text. Edition of 1500.

This title, published alongside an exhibition at Haunch of Venison, Zurich (October – November 2005), documents Pardo’s most recent work: a “boat’ that has been designed and made in the artist’s studio in LA and takes its inspiration from the boats used on lakes throughout America. The boat is vibrantly coloured, with a bright orange hull and decorative fabric designs throughout the interior. Pardo’s singular vision of art is all encompassing, drawing no hierarchical distinctions between the paintings, sculptures, chairs, books, plates, lamps and indeed the entire buildings that make up his oeuvre.

Pardo’s art is people-friendly. It is related to the things that are closest to us: the people we encounter in life, especially during our free time, and to our homes, fitted out with lamps, chairs, pictures and floor coverings. We feel good in surroundings characterised by beautiful décor, beautiful materials and abundant lighting‘. (Christina Vegh).
